      Bahá'í Writings ...

"Therefore it is our duty to investigate the essentials..."

The Bahá'í Sacred Writings total nearly 100 volumes of text. These include the Writings of the Báb, Bahá'u'lláh and 'Abdu'l-Bahá. Their Writings constitute the core of the Bahá'í Sacred Writings and teachings. There are also many statements and books by the Guardian of the Faith, Shoghi Effendi, and the Institutions of the Bahá'í Faith.

The Bahá'í Writings cover every topic of spiritual and social life. Members of the Bahá'í Faith who are in the sciences, humanities, social sciences and various fields have written books about these topics in light of the Bahá'í teachings. Bahá'ís worldwide whom are musicians, singers, writers, poets and artists have also produced CD-ROM recordings, books, illustrations and video tapes inspired by the beautiful spirituality of the Bahá'í teachings. Do Bahá'ís read the Bible or the Holy Books of other Faiths?

Yes. Bahá'u'lláh taught the unity of religion and encouraged everyone to read the Holy Books of all Faiths.

"Investigate and study the Holy Scriptures word by word so that you may attain knowledge of the mysteries hidden therein. Be not satisfied with the words, but seek to understand the spiritual meanings hidden in the heart of the words... These are the mysteries of God. It is not the reading of the words that profits you; it is the understanding of their meanings. Therefore, pray God that you may be enabled to comprehend the mysteries of the divine Testaments...

All the texts and teachings of the Holy Testaments have intrinsic meanings. They are not to be taken literally... May your souls be illumined by the light of the Words of God, and may you become repositories of the mysteries of God, for no comfort is greater and no happiness sweeter than spiritual comprehension of the divine teachings."
