Love...

What is a Bahá'í?

"To be a Bahá'í simply means to love all the world; to love humanity and to serve it; to work for universal peace and universal brotherhood."
('Abdu'l-Bahá, Bahá'í World, Vol. XII, p. 919)

The Bahá'í Life

Family unity and harmony are very important in the Bahá'í Teachings

"Note ye how easily, where unity existeth in a family, the affairs of that family are conducted; what progress the members make, how they prosper in the world. Their concerns are in order, they enjoy comfort and tranquillity... Such a family but addeth to its stature and its lasting honour, as day succeedeth day."
(Selections from the Writings of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, p. 279)

Reading...

Universal Education is a Sacred Principle

"Knowledge is like unto wings for the being, and is a ladder for ascending. To acquire knowledge is incumbent on all, but of those sciences which may profit people of the earth, and not such sciences as begin in mere words, and end in mere words."
(Bahá'í World Faith, p. 189)

The Elimination of Prejudice

Bahá'ís strive to eliminate all forms of prejudice; racial, religious, class, economic and cultural.

"Thoughts of love are constructive of brotherhood, peace, friendship and happiness..."
('Abdu'l-Bahá, Paris Talks, pp 29-30

Love...

The Equality of Men and Women

Bahá'u'lláh teaches that women and men are equal.

"Women have equal rights with men upon earth; in religion and society they are a very important element. As long as women are prevented from attaining their highest possibilities, so long will men be unable to achieve the greatness which is theirs."
('Abdu'l-Bahá, Paris Talks. p.133)

Unity...

To Serve Mankind

Bahá'ís are encouraged to serve mankind.

"Be ye loving fathers to the orphan, and a refuge to the helpless, and a treasury for the poor, and a cure for the ailing. Be ye the helpers of every victim of oppression, the patrons of the disadvantaged. Think ye at all times of rendering service to every member of the human race."
(Selections from the Writings of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, p. 3)
